اعتبر أهالي الشارقة برج خزان الماء ”التانكي“ والذي بني ما بين عامي 1982و1985، معلماً لإرشاد الناس إلى مواقع بيوتهم، بسبب علوه وشكله المميز الواقع في منتصف الدوار. وقد كان الأطفال يتصورون في مخيلتهم قصصاً وأساطير مختلفة عن هذا المجسم خلال ذهابهمو إيابهم من المدرسة. وأصبح جزءاً من إرث الشارقة إلى أن تم إزالته في عام 2012.أما شجرة ”الروله“ العملاقة، فقد كانت مركزاً لنزهات العائلات وتجمع الأصدقاء ولعب الأطفال ومقر الصفقات التي يقيمها رجال التجارة، وأيضاً ساحة للاحتفالات والمناسبات، إلى أن سقطت مع الزمن بعد150عاماً من العطاء. وقد تم بناء صرح تذكاري لتخليد ذكراها، وتحولت البقعة إلى حديقة عامة.يعكس هذا العمل الفني النبض المعماري والبيئي في الشارقة، والتي تتميز بأنها إمارة عائلية ومجتمعية، ترفل بكساء نباتي خلاّب. ويحاول الفنان عبر هذه اللوحة تذكير الناس بأهمية المعالم البسيطة كهذين العنصرين الذين لعبا دوراً كبيراً في خلق الذكريات والمواقف والحكايات لكل فرد في هذه الإمارة الباسمة.
Built between (1982 - 1985), the ‘Elevated Water Tank’, was a popular structure celebrated by the people of Sharjah, citizens who lived close to the water tanks would use them as a landmark to help people navigate the area when giving directions. Being famous for its height, unusual design and placed in the middle of a roundabout, kids often used their imagination to create stories about what could be inside the tank, until they were removed in 2012.The giant ‘Rolla’ tree was a central meeting point for families, traders and members of the community to gather underneath the shade, and celebrations also often took part under the tree. The Rolla tree has served the community for over 150 years, until it fell down due to an unknown disease, and was replaced with a monument to commemorate its legacy. Through this artwork, the artist reflects the architectural essence and agricultural spirit of Sharjah, which is known for being community oriented and full of greenery. The artwork is also a reminder of the significance of landmarks and how important their role is in shaping our imagination, storytelling and creating memories.
